School Board, Municipal Elections Set For Nov. 2

Two incuments - Greg Schultz and Ann Staiert - are not seeking re-election to the Glenwood Board of Education.
Candidates for the Nov. 2 municipal and school district elections in Iowa had until Thursday to submit the required paperwork to appear on the ballot.

Three at-large seats are up this year on the Glenwood school board. Incumbent Elizabeth Richardson is seeking re-election, while Matt Portrey and John J. Zak IV are running for at-large seats being vacated by Schultz and Staiert.
There will be one contested race for East Mills Board of Education. Matthew Urban and Kent H. Poncelow are both seeking the District 1 seat. Alan Obermiller is running for the District 2 seat and Rebecca Bell is seeking an at-large seat on the board.

In the municipal elections, Glenwood Mayor Ron Kohn is seeking re-election and will be unopposed on the ballot, as will District 3 City Council representative Laurie Mead Smithers. Incumbent Holly Jackson is being challenged by William McGinnis for an at-large seat on the council.

In Pacific Junction, longtime mayor Andy Young is being opposed by Shannon Snipes. Mathew Fritz, Holly Chafin, Terry Parham, Kimberly O’Connor, Dianna Irick, Connie Turner and Cherry Parham are vying  for five at large seats on the city council.

Malvern Mayor Fred Moreau is not seeking re-election in 2021. Current city council member Douglas Shere will be the lone candidate on the ballot for that position. Heather West, Ambert Lidgett, Christina Androy and Russell Holbert will compete for three at-large seats on the Malvern City Council.

Silver City has a long list of candidates. Incumbent mayor Rose Schoening will be opposed by Sharon McNutt. Sue McPeck, Ron Damewood, Brett Christensen, Mitzi Fink, Thomas Boehm and Terrell Ramsey are seeking election to five at large seats up for election in Silver City.

Emerson has one candidate for mayor - city council member Larry Johnson. Cathy Douglas and Ann W. Roth are running for at-large seats on the council.

Hastings has one candidate for mayor - Ryan Campbell, while Alan D. Crouse, Troy Hatcher, Dustin Crouse and Christine Ford are seeking at-large seats on the council. Jesse Jones is running unopposed for city treasurer.

Incumbent Henderson mayor Joel E. Tomford is seeking re-election, while Keith R. Newell, Rachael Knight and Sandra Diehl are running for city council.
